The fun doesn’t have to stop: Check out these nightlife hotspots during your golf trip
Southern Swing will hook you up with a hotel so you don’t have to spend too much time driving to different golf courses.
But it also gives you a chance to have some fun off the course. Here is some local nightlife to check out:
The Dock at Bayview
Right across the street from Gull Lake View Golf Resort, The Dock is a favorite summer spot for locals. You’ll have a view of Gull Lake while enjoying a good old-fashioned hamburger with a side of waffle fries.
There’s a lot of outdoor seating available, and the tiki hut is open for business. The big event of the week is the Bloody Mary bar on Sunday.
JB’s Whiskey Old Style Grill
Relax and discover a new favorite whiskey at JB’s in Springfield. Located between Gull Lake View Golf Resort and downtown Battle Creek, this restaurant has more space outside than inside. They take full advantage of it with porch dining and summer concerts.
There’s a full wall of whiskey to sip and savor. The menu features hearty fare, the kind that goes with a glass of bourbon. Order a steak or hamburger or one of the many gourmet variations on macaroni and cheese.
Copper Athletic Club
Copper Athletic Club in Marshall is a cool place to hang out. It has the chummy feel of a hole-in-the-wall, but with cleaner floors. The menu should appeal to any foodies in your group, too.
Copper is officially a sports bar, so of course you’ll find beer on tap. But we also recommend a cocktail called the Curse of Bobby Layne. It’s made with the quarterback’s favorite Scotch Whiskey.
Dark Horse Brewing Co.
If you’re looking for a robust beer, go to the source at Dark Horse in Marshall. The beer garden is open and the wood-fire pizza oven is fired up.
Dark Horse is a staple of Michigan craft beer, but if you are new to the brand many people start with a Crooked Tree IPA. If you want a summer special, try Rain in Blood orange pale ale.
FireKeepers Casino & Hotel
Since reopening, the casino has been more popular than ever. If FireKeepers is a must on your to-do list, we recommend booking rooms at the hotel that’s connected to the casino.
Within one building, you’ll have access to games, drinks and good food.
Grab a beer at Dacey’s Taphouse or a steak at Smoke ‘n Fire.
Griffin Grill & Pub
The outdoor patio on this pub in downtown Battle Creek stretches around the corner of the building. It’s a cool spot to get a drink and some appetizers in the evening.
Griffin’s drink specialty is a top-notch mule. New editions this year include a summery mule with strawberry and lemonade, or the Dragon mule, which combines apples, berries and ginger.
Kume Hibachi and Grill
If you’re looking for something a little different, Kume in Battle Creek will add fire to your trip. Sit around a hibachi grill and the chef will cook your dinner right there.
It’s a great activity for groups, but word of warning: Make a reservation ahead of time because spots can run out fast.
